Skógafoss at Iceland

One more picture from Iceland – this time its Skógafoss, right at Eyjafjällaljökull.
We stumbled there quite by chance after having had lunch in a wonderful pop up restaurant.
The black volcanic sand was most astonishing to me – granular and dry.
What a great sight!

    1. It’s an amazing country! We loved it very much, though we didn’t even saw a quarter of it. Did you take the ring road?

      1. I loved it! yes we did take that route, our leader had organised our own tour with our own minibus so we saw such a lot in a few days. We didn’t get to Þingvellir, and we didn’t manage to see Eyjafjallajökull because it was covered in low cloud, but we did go to Akranes which fascinated me! The Northern Lights let me down, they didn’t show themselves, so I definitely want to go back. Did you see the Northern Lights?

        1. No, the Northern Lights escaped us – but then, we visited in Agust.
We had too few vacation to take the Ring Road and stayed in Reykjavik taking trips. We took a bus tour to the golden triangle – Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss. So wonderful!
And you saw Arkanes! I would have loved to do so! When did you take your trip?

            1. Ooh, wonderful pictures! What a great post!
I’ll have to watch them again in peace in the evening. I’ve not yet read anything by Viktor Arnar Ingólfsson – I’ll have to check that.
